You'll have to check with each college you're interested in to see if it requires a minimum TOEFL score. You can find this online at some college's websites. Also, this might help: http://www.universitylanguage.com/guides/Interpreting-Your-TOEFL-Scores.html Good luck!

You didn't say where you were from, but it is my understanding that the USA's school system is much different than those of other countries. I will tell you what I know... Primary school is usually through grade 5. We start the kids in a prekindergarden at age 4. These children spend most of their time getting ready for what we call a TAKS test. It is given at intervals during the childs school life, like grade 3 and grade 5 and if the child does not pass, they can not move up to the next grade. While you are young like this, you have no option of what you study. In junior high, grades 6-8, you have little choice of what you study, but you do get to take an elective or two, like deciding if you want to be in choir, band, or art...not much of a choice if you ask me. Then when you get to High School, around age 15 you get a little more freedom, like you can chose what type of science you prefer and math as well, however most of it goes on your grades from previous years....Even in College, we have to study history and literature and do not get to really specialize in what we want to become...I understand in other countries, when you get to college you mostly study what you are majoring in...not here, you have to study many many different things to get a degree...

Middle School around ages 11- 14 (Grades 6-8) High School around ages 14- 18 (Grades 9-12) In Middle School, everyone is required to take English, Science, Reading, Math and Social Studies. Then, they can choose 2 classes of electives. (ex. cooking, sewing, band, chorus, art, wood shop, and so on) Your choices are limited... In High School, the grades are called 9th grade- Freshmen 10th Grade- Sophmore 11th Grade- Junior 12th Grade- Senior. There are requirements for graduation for High school, which varies for every school. For mine, we need 4 years of English, 4 yrs of Math, 2 years of Social Studies, 2 years of Foreign languages, 1/2 year of business, 1/2 of art or music, and so on. If students choose to take more than 2 years of Social Studies, then they can. and same goes for other subjects as well. We just need to meet the requirements, other than that, we have many many many other electives that we can choose from. (psycology, auto shop, drama, foods, fashion, accounting, graphic designing, tv production, marketing, economy....and many more.) And the courses are more specific than Middle School. Science- Biology, Physics, Chemistry Math- Algebra, Calculus, Math Analysis, Algebra II, Trig. Social Studies- Military History, American Studies, US history, European History, World History, Economy... and all those have levels of regular, honors, or AP. Then, during our junior year, (11th) we take a standarized test for preperation for college.
